Recognizing and Cultivating Leaders
Nurturing Community and Creativity
For centuries, the creative has been the bedrock of bringing community together. When art can be made, this allows for the deep themes of being human to be addressed. We believe if Community and Creativity are nurtured, we can become more whole, we can heal. As part of our giving back, we want to foster two meaningful ways to ignite more Community and Creativity in Spokane.
Encourage and Empower
Encourage:

Flamelight
Candles
"All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle."
- Francis of Assisi
Start Simple. Start Small. Start Where You Are.
In a time when it feels uncertain, scary, chaotic and divisive - small acts of love and light are of the highest value. There are many wonderful leaders within Spokane doing amazing things to cultivate kindness, community and creativity. The candle is a symbol of the light we all share and how that light can be spread through simple but important gestures. Recipients of a Flamelight Candle are reminded that the work they do matters, it has meaning. It is a little way of encouraging those doing good works from burning out. Candles are made from potters in Spokane (KJ Pottery and One 11 Ceramics and local candle makers using the most natural ingredients.

The Vision
Small is the new Big.
Slow is the new Fast.
Intimate is the new Influence.
We can create micro cultures of creativity and community ---
RIGHT WHERE WE ARE.
Maybe that is our neighborhood.
Maybe that is a non-profit we volunteer through.
Maybe it is a gaggle of concerned citizens cleaning up a park.
Either way, these micro communities can come together to sponsor a Flamelight Gathering, an intentional space for creativity and connection.
In this curated evening, you will experience an intimate audience witnessing the intersection of art and meaning.
Themes of meaning, purpose and belonging will intersect with the possibility of live music, poetry, storytelling and visual art curated to speak to the human experience.
This may be in a home or a community gathering place. The artists will be a part of the micro community and connected intimately with the theme.
These evenings will be recorded and found here at flamelightproject.org. You will be able to learn about different communities in Spokane, the artists they nourish and the ways they are making the world a better place through connection and meaning.
